"Global Warning" Glass Sculpture
Global Warning Glass Sculpture

This piece titled, "Global Warning", standing 17-3/4" tall and 6-1/2" wide, and weighing a little over 5 lbs, is dedicated to the Archangel Jophiel. To me it is symbolic of our times. Jophiel is known as the Patron Angel of Artists, and is also known for protecting the tree of life with a flaming sword. I sculpted him melting out of an ice shard. A full explanation of the techniques used to create this borosilicate piece is in the August/September issue of GlassLine magazine. Finished June 2007. This piece was donated to the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, PA for their 2007 Glass Now Auction. The proceeds of this piece will go towards bringing children of underfunded schools to the museum. It has been an honor. Please click on the image for more images.

"Shapeshifter" Glass Sculpture
Shapeshifter Glass Sculpture

"Shapeshifter" Glass Sculpture is dedicated to the hidden falls and three pools of transmutation, where I saw through the veil for a moment out of time. This hollow borosilicate art sculpture, titled "Shapeshifter", stands 22" tall and 8" wide. Working in the mask motif this piece was designed to resemble a bird that visits me in dream time. It was my intention to play with the shadow, to project an image on the wall behind it, adding another layer of presence. Finished July 2007. Please click on the image for more images.

"Kamau" Glass Sculpture

Anubis Glass Sculpture
Anubis Glass Sculpture

Anubis is the watcher of the scales on the journey to the afterlife. He oversees the weighing of the heart and the feather, and is known as the protector of the sacred funerary rites and mummification. Legend has it that Anubis, the jackal, got his reputation from protecting ancient burial sites from looters and robbers. Oftentimes, crypts and tombs were cool and dry making for a nice den for a jackal. The ankh in his hand can be used as a pendant, and the spear is also removable. The pillar has the scales sandblasted into it with a heart and feather. This flameworked borosilicate Anubis glass art sculpture stands 17" tall. Finished May 2007. Please click on the image for more images.

Totem Pole Glass Sculpture
Totem Pole Glass Sculpture

During the manifestation of this piece, I had an open door into the pool of collectives. So much so, that my dreams were infected with patterns oddly familiar to me, but not yet seen. This piece is heavy with symbology that self-manifested itself. Taking me almost to an Atlantean / Mayan / Egyptian way of symbology. I did a little research on totem pole medicine before starting the project. There is a platform I had in mind for how I perceive the totem, but I will let that be up to the Eye of the beholder. This Totem Pole Glass Sculpture was made with borosilicate (Pyrex) glass and stands 14" tall, and has a wing span of 8". Made in 2007. Please click on the image for more images.

Shiva Glass Sculpture
Shiva Glass Sculpture

Shiva the destroyer/creator is 11" tall and 9" wide. In one hand he holds a drum with which he brings things into being; in another hand he holds a fire with which things are destroyed. This is a symbol of the Universe, in which there is constant and simultaneous creation and destruction. Shiva's three locks represent the mental, physical and spiritual energies. The cobra around his neck symbolizes yogic power, which he uses to dissolve and recreate the universe. The trishula (trident) on his headdress, symbolizes the Lord's three fundamental powers of will (iccha), action (kriya) and knowledge (gyana). The damaru (drum) and its two sides separated from each other symbolizes the two entirely dissimilar states of existence, invisible and evident. This Shiva Glass Sculpture was made with borosilicate (Pyrex) glass, and was sandblasted. Completed June 2007. This art glass sculpture was a custom order for a collector. Please click on the image for more images.

Hanuman Glass Sculpture
Hanuman Glass Sculpture
Once Sita gave Hanuman a necklace of pearls. After a while, the residents of the city observed him breaking the necklace and inspecting each pearl minutely. Intrigued they asked him the reason. "I am looking for Rama and Sita," replied Hanuman. Laughing at his apparent naivety the spectators pointed out to him that the royal couple was at the moment seated on the imperial throne. "But Rama and Sita are everywhere, including my heart" wondered aloud the true bhakta. Not understanding the depth of his devotion, they further teased him: "So Rama and Sita live in your heart, can you show them to us?" Unhesitatingly, Hanuman stood up and with his sharp talons tore open his chest. There, within his throbbing heart, the astonished audience were taken aback to find enshrined an image of Rama and Sita. Never again did anyone make fun of Hanuman's devotion. This sculpture is made with borosilicate (Pyrex) glass and is about 8" tall. Finished May 2007. This art glass sculpture was a custom order for a collector. Huichol Jaguar Set Glass Sculpture
Huichol Jaguar Set Glass Sculpture
It’s been a long journey, but after a couple months of research, the story goes like this.... The sun in the center of the jaguar head radiating a blue aura of Great Spirit. Hands reaching out from either side of the sun, being struck by lightning. Charged with its intense energy, the hands throw out the rainbow arrowheads, meaning the balanced force of the white light. Purple energy radiating off the lightning bolts for its higher illumination. The scorpion is nestled between the eyes on the snout crawling out from underneath the agaves is a reminder to the gatherer/roadman. The fire around the mouth of the jaguar symbolizes the burning of the hunger, and the water bordering the fire quenching the thirst with the sacred dance of life. In the water I put the deer head for its symbiotic relationship with the jaguar. At the bottom of the piece is just a little something to honor the red-tail hawk in color. On its head, I put the blue crown for communication, and a purple aura off it for illumination. The shaman is placed in the center of the base of the agave with the directional totem between him and the hawk. On the very front of the base there is another scorpion in the agave leaf nestled next to a peyote button. In the center of the base there is a peyote pattern that I worked with. Each leaf on the back-side has directional patterns. I'm fond of these because they play tricks with the eyes. The piece stands a foot tall on the base, and the base is 8 inches wide. The piece itself stands 9" tall and is 6-1/2" from bowl to jaguar snout. Finished May 8, 2007. This art glass sculpture was a custom order for a collector. Please click on the image for more pictures.
