Anubis is the watcher of the scales on the journey to the afterlife. He oversees the weighing of the heart and the feather, and is known as the protector of the sacred funerary rites and mummification. Legend has it that Anubis, the jackal, got his reputation from protecting ancient burial sites from looters and robbers. Oftentimes, crypts and tombs were cool and dry making for a nice den for a jackal. The ankh in his hand can be used as a pendant, and the spear is also removable. The pillar has the scales sandblasted into it with a heart and feather. This flameworked borosilicate Anubis glass art sculpture stands 17" tall. Finished May 2007.
